A new supply chain connected with the production and processing of medicinal plants

The presence of plentiful heat/thermal energy led us to wonder and ask ourselves if it would be worth to test a new supply chain connected with the production and processing of medicinal plants.
In 2014 the first experimental field started, planting some species such as Cynara Cardunculs, Melilotus Officinalis, Passiflora Incarnata, Melissa Officinalis, Tanacetum Phartenium, Ocimum Basilicum, to test their plantability, production yield and quality.
The results were encouraging and for this reason, in 2015, the first supply agreement with a multinational pharmaceutical company was signed. This allowed us to see the birth of a new production chain to grow and process medicinal plants.

In 2018 we built a new plant to dry, process and stock our herbs.
It includes 10 fan-assisted industrial dryers controlled by a software that manages the various processing steps according to each plant type (modifying humidity and temperature). These ovens are supplied with renewable energy: the hot water coming from the biogas-plant.

In a special processing room, our machineries can separate the leaves and cut to measure the various plant types.

To grant the best quality, we stock our dried plants in a dark warehouse in controlled temperature and humidity rate.

Verarbeitung

Our medicinal plants are grown only by the members of our cooperative with specific agronomic procedures.
Each step is carried out by means of high-technology methods and precision farming through satellite control to get the best results, nonetheless respecting our plants.

The harvest takes place when the plant offers its best quality.
The plants are then delivered to our factory, where they go through a process of drying at low temperature and controlled humidity.

The drying procedure takes place in a few hours from the harvest, so that the characteristics of the plants may remain unchanged.
Afterwards the herbs go through a series of machinery working steps: beating, separation, sifting and cutting to measure.

During each step strong attention is given to the search and removal of foreign objects that might affect the integrity of the product

Qualität als Ergebnis

Each herb goes through a specific protocol from the beginning to the end of its production process.

We trace and follow each production step: cultivation, harvest, drying and further processing.

All plants are analysed to check their final quality.

Our main goals are production quality and respect of the environment, as per our environmental policy.
