PRODUCTION LINE Every year we make improvements with the aim of increasing
the efficiency of the line and the quality of our products. We introduced a new packaging machine that allowed us to reduce the physical fatigue of workers and to implement the herb sampling system.
We have developed software to monitor the entire production phase, from when the fresh product goes in to the baskets to the dry product processing.
INDUSTRIAL RESEARCH DOCTOR Since the inception of Agribioenergy, different species and varieties are tested and experimented with in both the agro-energy and medicinal plant sectors Fertilization and weed control tests are carried out, and different types of irrigation are tested. In 2022, thanks to PNRR funds, a Doctorate of Industrial Research was activated with the Department of Agri-Food Science and Technology related to the field of medicinal herbs. The goal of this collaboration is to improve the quality of dried medicinal herbs.
INTERNAL RESEARCH
Since the inception of Agribioenergia, various species and varieties have been tested and trialed in both the agro-energy and medicinal plant sectors.
Fertilization and weed control trials are regularly conducted, and we are currently testing different types of irrigation systems.
INDUSTRIAL PHD PROGRAM
In 2022, thanks to PNRR (National Recovery and Resilience Plan) funding, an Industrial PhD program was launched in collaboration with the Department of Agricultural and Food Sciences and Technologies, focusing on the medicinal plants sector (Project). The goal of this partnership is to improve the quality of dried medicinal herbs.
In 2024, the TRACE project—“Innovation and traceability in the production chain of medicinal plants cultivated in the Emilia-Romagna area”—was initiated in collaboration with the DISTAL and DISI departments of the University of Bologna. Among its various objectives are: increasing active ingredients in specific medicinal plants; implementing a network of sensors for soil moisture, temperature, and conductivity, as well as agro-weather stations; and developing an App to manage agro-meteorological information.
AGRICULTURAL MECHANIZATION We have designed and deployed a new harvesting machine for medicinal and aromatic plants, allowing us to handle the plants with the utmost care. We continuously test equipment featuring precision farming technologies, satellite systems, robots, and autonomous vehicles that can bring a tangible advantage to the agricultural system in terms of increased productivity, product safety, waste reduction, and efficient water use.
